This novella is hot, with a lot of steamy love scenes, and has a great story to boot! The book is set in London, 1855, during the time of the Crimean War. Kate is a young nurse with two useless, irresponsible, older brothers. I don't usually read novels set in England during this time period. Most of the books I read that are set in the 1850's and later, are written in the wild west of America, with sexy cowboy heroes who say things like darlin', ma'am, and much obliged. LOL.In any event, Kate is a nurse. She is forced to assist a Doctor with his private patient, the hero, in order to help her worthless brother pay off yet another gambling debt. In order to fulfill this obligation, Kate is forced to give up a delightful, working holiday in Paris, that she was fervently looking forward to. There is an instant attraction between James and Kate.
The sexual tension between the two is electric, and the love scenes are hot. James is the youngest son of a Viscount. It's never really clear what Kate's station is, (though you can tell she's not a member of the aristocracy) but the fact that she is impoverished makes her, in her mind, an ineligible parti for James. I enjoyed the story the author created around these two characters.
This erotic novella is one of the few that I've read that actually has a storyline to go with the sex scenes. The book is well written and has the feel of one that's been professionally edited....not a common occurrence among e-books. Furthermore, James and Kate's characters are fully developed, while secondary catchers are more two dimensional.
I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys historical romance novella with a liberal dose of sizzle.

Out Of Her League Historical Romance Novella The Sun Never Sets Book 2 edition by Victoria Lynne Romance eBooks Reviews
A short historical romance that I couldnt' put down. Character were very likable & the chemistry was amazing. Not a fan of historical romance but this book was really a good read for me. Not to mention was free as well. I would recommend & know this love story will not let you down.
Once I started reading I was "hooked" and finished it in one sitting. The story was well constructed, the writing and the characters were handled well. There is a fair amount of "sex" but felt that that it helped with the story and in addition was done tastefully. Had a good feeling when I finished. I will be reading this book again and have decided to order the other books by this author. Yes, recommend the book highly.
I'm not really a historical romance type of person, but I enjoyed this book. Great light reading for a quiet afternoon. Her erotic scenes were well-written and quite steamy. What I liked about the book was that it was balanced. Good plot, well-told story, good character development all mixed together with steamy sex. A great little read!
The heroine decided that she was not going to continue to enable her brothers behavior. She was a competent nurse professionally but her personal life revolved around her adult brothers. Her one guilty pleasure was sexy lingerie. While taking of the injured hero she realized that she wanted physical intimacy in her life. One peek of her scarlet corset sparked their love affair.
A good, quick & hot read. For me as a modern-day woman, I can't imagine being tied to family members who would expect me to take care of them to the point of repressing my own wants...so I was rooting for Kate to break away to find her own happiness.
The characters were pretty well developed for such a short read. The thing that took a star away for me was the missing words or incorrect words scattered throughout the book. While I can fill in the blanks, simple editing errors like this will always cause me to take away a star.
Out of Her League, for being a rather short and quick read, packs a lot of emotions and super hot sexual encounters amongst the pages. From the likable characters to the nice balance between sexy encounters and character development this ends up being a satisfying read that will appeal to fans of the historical genre as well as erotica.
Katherine Riley's family used to socialize with the uppercrust until her father's passing and her brother's vices squandered their inheritance, forcing them to live in a more meager fashion. The last ball she attended before their financial fall left her with many dreams of the handsome soldier she watched from afar all night. Fate has brought her back into the company of that soldier to help heal his war wounds and this time around he gives Katherine his undivided attention and changes her life completely. Changing her life is a big part of the story. Katherine has taken care of her brothers for so long that she's lost herself and the possibilities for her future. She's made them weak by not making them care for themselves and their responsibilities. It's an unconventional impetus that makes Katherine stand up for herself and the scene where she finally declares her independence is not only humorous but empowering. I admired her familial dedication at the start and admired her even more for asserting herself.
War hero James Lancaster seems depressed when we first meet him and desperate to get his body back to the way it was. Stuck with an uncaring almost-fiance he's struck by his immediate connection to Katherine and the promise of future happiness he sees in her eyes. He immediately turns on the charm and I can see why Katherine's immediately smitten and willing to carry on such an unconventional relationship. She seems like the perfect match for him on many levels and the connection between them evolves quickly and intensely. This leads to many creative and erotic encounters that are perfectly spaced throughout the story and keep the level of sexual tension running high.
My only issue with this story is how quickly it's wrapped up. Considering their differences in social status I expected more problems from society regarding their relationship. Their relationship seemed to progress too easily which didn't seem realistic. The story is still immensely enjoyable and has me wanting to read more from this author. Those wanting lots of steamy encounters from an extremely likable couple will find themselves wanting to pick this book up.
